Ramp, a leading spend management platform, collaborated with Modal to accelerate their LLM (Large Language Model) development and scale their batch processing capabilities.

Ramp's intelligent receipt submission flow, powered by an LLM, required customization beyond existing providers' capabilities. Modal provided the flexibility Ramp needed to:

• Train multiple candidate LLM models simultaneously

• Persist model weights from different fine-tuning runs

• Serve an inference endpoint to test various models

This flexibility allowed Ramp to evaluate performance across multiple model designs efficiently, reducing manual intervention for receipts by 34%. Moreover, Modal's infrastructure proved to be 79% cheaper than major LLM providers, resulting in significant cost savings for Ramp.
