Techstars and IDB Lab Launch Program to Boost Women Entrepreneurship
Techstars and IDB Lab have teamed up to drive innovation and STEM-based women entrepreneurship in Central America and Ecuador. This initiative, powered by WeXchange, IDB Lab's platform supporting women entrepreneurs in STEM across Latin America and the Caribbean, will roll out a series of entrepreneurial events from 2024 to 2025. These events include:
Six editions of Startup Weekend in Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua.
Two editions of Founder Catalyst, a 10-week pre-accelerator program for early-stage STEM-based female founders.
An edition of Ecosystem Development Lab in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, focusing on empowering female entrepreneurship and fostering the startup ecosystem.
Financially supported by the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (WeFi), this partnership aims to enhance access to finance, build capacity, expand networks, and provide market opportunities for women entrepreneurs in developing countries.
Katie Smith, Techstars Head of Ecosystem Development, reaffirmed the commitment to democratizing access to opportunities for entrepreneurs globally. Magdalena Coronel, chief investment officer at IDB Lab, expressed enthusiasm about backing women founders in emerging entrepreneurial ecosystems.
